A central swimming pool and the central lodge is where meals are served, it has a library and a bar where we meet to discuss your checklists, exchange sightings and hear your stories of travel. Wildlife is rich in the Lodge acreage, we have Chital and Wild Pigs resident on the property, who are often visited by Leopards and Dholes. In peak fruiting season, we even see Sloth Bears ambling around in daylight or on our camera traps. Our naturalists have been documenting several species of birds, butterflies, dragonflies, spiders, scorpions and many flowering plants and climbers.
In order to keep the property wild and not make the wildlife accustomed to our food waste it is responsibly segregated and composted. The plastic and other recyclable waste is sent across to the nearby city for disposal and certified recyclers.
To sustain such abundance of wildlife, we at Forsyth Lodge believe in minimal impact to the land, the lights are just enough to get you to meals and back to cottages, man-made sounds are limited around living areas so as to not disturb sleeping Langurs or the flower visiting Civets.
Even our wastewater is recycled. While the grey water from the cottages is used to irrigate lily ponds, the kitchen wastewater is released in a reed pond for recharging the ground water after natural filtration.

As a Leopard seeks respite in the cosiness of his canopy bed, our Gondia cottages and Machaans provide the same comfort and insulation from the Satpura climate, however hot or cold. We do have air-conditioning and heating when you need it. The room is a simple lap of luxury, with small signs of our sustainability efforts peppered all around. We provide you with all the basic amenities and comforts.
The bathrooms, with a view to the wild provide a unique experience of feeling one with nature, even when nature calls!
Each of the cottages boast a luxurious sit out area, totally integrated with the wild. When sprawled out on comfortable armchairs, one would often experience a beautiful bird flitting by, or a herd of deer munching noiselessly a few feet away.
Our premium Machaan cottages provide an additional place to sleep during the cooler months and when it’s hot, provide a canopy of cosiness, overlooking the 44 acres of wild that surrounds Forsyth Lodge.

Simply amazing off the grid place to stay Wow what an amazing off the grid place to stay, very original lodges and so natural. The food was out of this world, very very tasty and plentiful. Great proximity to Satpura NP cannot recommend highly enough. Our allocated Naturalist Mohammed was such an amazing and enthusiastic guide with a really lovely personality as well as being very knowledgeable, even though he goes into the NP on a regular basis he was still as excited by it as us….

OUTSTANDING and worth the visit ....... Lovely property ; 40+ acres preserved naturally like a Jungle, Excellent food , well behaved and trained staff, Safaris were nice organised. The naturalist, Mohammad was kind and knowledgeable . Other naturalist was available for a Brief interaction and seemed to be in control of the subject. There were Senior Staff of the Company who took time out to interact with us and make us comfortable. The Food and the Safaris were the HIGH point. The Property could be AAA with slightly better Lighting. The Chef was Brilliant. One issue we liked was employment of local villagers and training of them to the excellent Brand standards

Indulging and Divine We received very warm Welcome by entire staff, amazing lemon tea and very tasty Gongura leaf pan (very tasty and local)From checkin to check out everything was very smooth. Entire property gives a warm feeling and positive vibes. Food is scrumptious, homely and fresh. They served lunch in thali and kept serving according to our need.Their home baked breads were amazing.Staff is very efficient and takes care of all needs. They take proper account of food allergies as well. We got to see spotted deer and peacocks. Very well appointed and clean rooms and washrooms. Special mention is Akhil who made sure that we do not face any issues. His knowledge and passion for forests and its habitat was brilliant. He explained the Satpura jungle and Presence of wild life in and around was exceptional. Karthick Akhil and others make a great team. Chef is a perfectionist and cooks delicious food.Few things to be considered when you visit Forsyth. Only Jio network works there. Wifi works in common area only. Half a kilometre of access road would test your driving skills specially in Rainy season. SUVs are the best choice. Lodge arranges boat ride and jungle safaris. Thank you so much Akhil for making our stay so memorable. Hope to see you soon.

Beyond Beautiful My time here has been beautiful beyond measure.A wonderfully designed place, with a brilliant touch of art and wildlife. Makes for a serene getaway amidst wilderness. The staff here is so hospitable, they make the guests feel at home. From the way they receive, speak with warmth and that lip smacking food with lots of varieties, is just so good. The safari experience with them, is a class apart. Because a naturalist will accompany. They know the forests and wildlife very well, so the stories and information they give, truly enriches the whole experience. If you are looking for a fulfilling holiday, Forsyth Lodge is where you should be!

Quiet and memorable I stayed in Forsyth with my family and it was an absolute delight. The resort is away from the life we usually wind ourselves in. It’s secluded , quiet and a paradise for nature lovers. The staff is extremely friendly, hospitable and ensures you have a comfortable stay. Must visit once in your lifetime. I sure would love to go back . Thanks Forsyth and team for taking such good care of us.

FAQs

Given the amount of land available at Forsyth’s (44 acres) why are the cottages not dispersed more widely?
We adhere to the responsible eco-tourism guideline of using about 10% of land for construction and allowing the balance to revert to wilderness. We also use live fencing around the property i.e. no barbed wire for better wildlife safety. It’s certainly pretty good as we have had bears (right outside the main building) and leopard pugmarks in the property. We have resident wild boars on the lodge grounds along with rusty spotted cats, jungle cats, spotted deer, Indian hare (Rufous tailed), monitor lizards, jackals and palm civets.
Is it safe to walk in the property? Sit or sleep out in the Machaan at night?
Yes, it is safe to walk on the pathways but its better to be accompanied by any of the staff for a walk in the wilder part of the property. In the night you should always carry a torch, so you do not step on anything unknowingly, this is also the best way to avoid getting bitten by snakes or Scorpions. Animals to venture within the property but they are all extremely shy and usually will stay away from us. We also avoid serving any food in the cottages to avoid mice and their reptilian predators.
Do animals come to the sit out?
No, except for Langurs which do jump on the cottage roofs and trees nearby, the other animals stay a safe distance away from us as they are more scared of us than we are of them.
Can we have a party or play music?
As a responsible jungle lodge, we follow the rules of the forest department and do not allow any recorded music within the property as it will disturb the serenity of the jungle atmosphere and the creatures around. Your most welcome to sing and play an instrument like the guitar, I am sure some of us will join in.
Can we have a campfire?
Yes, during the winter months we do provide campfires in outdoor sitting areas, but they must be monitored and managed so that the fire doesn’t spread to the surrounding grassland or forest even by accident.
