Jungle Night Safari

What was once a transit experience of finding nocturnal animals, by chance on the highways, while crossing through some jungles has now been made possible by the forest department. Tourists can now avail for Night Safaris in Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Pench and Satpura to support the forest department in Patrolling the buffer areas of the parks. These night safaris happen from dusk to around 9 – 9:30 pm at night varying from place to place. If you were hoping to stay in the jungle all night long, Satpura is just the place to go for. You can combine Night Safari with camping within the jungle to have the adventurous feel and waking up with the first ray of the sun inside your luxurious camp set up.

Wildlife sightings are a matter of chance but being able to experience the jungle away from the lights of the city will definitely imprint in your memory for a long time.
In Satpura, there are two buffer areas to explore while entering from Madai side one is Parsapani (Pathai gate) i.e 10 km (30 mins drive) another one is Jamani Dev (Sehra gate) i.e. about 4 km (10 minutes drive) from the Madai gate.

Both the buffer areas are rich in wildlife with frequent sightings of the star species like Tiger, Leopard, Sloth Bear and Wild Dogs, with sightings of nocturnal animals like Small Indian Civet, Asian Palm Civet, Porcupine, Owls, Nightjars etc. Satpura, especially the buffer area, is also famous for sightings of the smallest wild cat species in the world, Rusty Spotted Cat.

Some Days on Jungle safari you may feel like the jungle is very silent and you may start losing hope, have faith and look up at the stars or the moon and try to spot some satellites. Not everyday do you get to do a safari inside the jungle. Well don’t forget you are also conserving the forest by patrolling the areas from any illegal activities that may have happened if you were not there.

You can also include camping inside the forest, some days when you wake up in the jungle and come outside your camp you may realise a leopard or a tiger had come close to your camp and changed its path just on time.
